YouTube Offline Playback Now Available in India, Indonesia and Philippines

In September, YouTube announced that it will be bringing offline playback of YouTube videos in countries some developing countries where data network is not always available. We covered this news in one of our previous article which you can read here. So, keeping up their words, YouTube has now released its offline playback in some developing countries i.e. IndiaIndonesia and Philippines.

This feature can be seen in YouTube's Mobile app. As soon as you launch the app and open a video you will see a screen showing you how to save and access videos in your mobile. There is also a new  option in Menu called Offline which lets you view and manage videos saved offline.

“YouTube offline is just a start. We h ope to keep finding better ways to make video content more affordable and accessible to our growing base of YouTube mobile users in the region,” said Jay Akkad, YouTube product manager for Asia Pacific.
You can save any video from YouTube (some videos might not be available yet) in your device in two qualities (Normal - 360p and HD - 720p). The cached video will be available in your smartphone for next 48 Hours and will be removed from cached videos after that.

By default, YouTube App will only cache videos when you are connected to WiFi, but you can change this in settings.
